three-peso beach
The travel to Guiuan is both exhausting and invigorating, while experiencing natural marvels first hand. We would not let the first day of our vacation pass without taking a dip. Riding a tricycle we went to Dumpao Beach. Just the sight of the shore in the glow of the afternoon sun was the height of my day. And the entire beach is ours until the sun sets. Aaaah, what tranquility.
a little indulgence at the end of the road
The road to Guiuan is a visual treat. Not a lot of people may have the patience to sit up for three hours, but we’re used to plying the Rizal-Quezon route that takes even longer. Three hours in and out of the magnificent Eastern Samar coast is one pleasurable ride. We passed maybe six towns going south of Samar, including the historic town of Balangiga, the protected areas of Marabut, and the town of Basey known for its colorful woven banigs. A trail of rock formations, nipa and mangrove plantations, and miles and miles of beaches are common sight throughout the ride.
the island has two faces
We’re back from an unforgettable trip. Truly a reminder of how immensely rich this country is. There’s so much to write about Guiuan. Let’s take this one post at a time.
